Folklore and Fairy Tales: Iron Henry
The central theme of this story is that you should not treat people harshly
based on their appearances. How true that story is. You never know
what a person has/doesn’t have or is/isn't simply by their outward appearance.
Some CEOs dress like hobos, who are we to treat them any differently because
they're wearing clothes from the Goodwill? You're not supposed to treat them
differently. You're supposed to treat even the scummiest looking person with
the same respect that you would treat the most well-dressed person
you have ever encountered.
This story teaches that a person should be careful to keep the promises
fight [no obj] to argue in an angry way
He and his wife are always over/about money.
They fight (with each other) all the time.
argue [no obj] to disagree or fight by using angry words : quarrel
Their neighbors argued (with each other) all the time.
The started arguing about/over politics/religion.
She would argue with anyone.
ignore to do nothing about or in response to (something or someone)
If we continue to ignore these problems they will only get worse.
They ignored the warning signs.
ignoring the poor
pinch to squeeze (someone's skin) between your thumb and finger often
in a painful way
My little brother is always trying to pinch me.
He pinched her cheeks and told her how cute she was.
- often figuratively
It was all so beautiful I had to pinch myself [=I had to remind myself
that it was real] to be sure I wasn't dreaming.
Pinch me. [=I can't believe this is happening]
