story A story is a description of an event or something that happened
to someone, especially a spoken description of it.
The parents all shared interesting stories about their children.

eatery An eatery is a place where you can buy and eat food.
... one of the most elegant old eateries in town.

establishment An establishment is a store, business, or organization
occupying a particular building or place.
... a scientific research establishment.

tailor-made If you say that someone or something is tailor-made for
a particular task, purpose, or need, you are emphasizing that they
are perfectly suitable for it.
He was tailor-made, it was said, for the task ahead.

sb can't carry a tune in a bucket used to say that someone is completely
unable to sing the notes of any song

stand up If a boyfriend or girlfriend stand you up, they fail to keep
an arrangement to meet you.
We were to have had dinner together yesterday evening, but he stood me up.

cheat Someone who is a cheat does not obey a set of rules which they should
be obeying.
Cheats will be disqualified.

high If you say that you were left high and dry, you are emphasizing that
you were left in a difficult situation and were unable to do anything
about it.
Schools with better reputations will be flooded with applications while
poor schools will be left high and dry.

pretend If you pretend that something is the case, you act in a way that
is intended to make people believe that it is the case, although in fact
it is not.

desperate If you are desperate for something or desperate to do something,
you want or need it very much indeed.
They'd been married nearly four years and June was desperate to start a family.

accidental An accidental event happens by chance or as the result of an accident,
and is not intended.
... the tragic accidental shooting of his younger brother.

swindle If someone swindles a person or an organization, they deceive them in
order to get something valuable from them, especially money.
A businessman swindled investors out of millions of dollars.

pad If an employee with an expense account pads their expenses, they claim that
their expenses are greater than they really are in order to get more money from
their employer.
She was fired for padding her expenses.
